Homework
Fourth grade students should be doing a maximum of 40 minutes of homework a day! Research does not show a benefit for students in the elementary grades doing more homework than that when they have been in school all day and have been actively engaged in a thinking curriculum. Family time and extra-curricular endeavors are just as important in developing happy, healthy people! Of course, that doesn't mean students should be staring at the TV or video games, but that the after-school hours can be used more productively exploring outside of school activities that build bodies and minds!
The DP Fourth grade team has determined that most homework will consist of reading and one critical-thinking math problem. Reading can be from a book or from one of the the links provided as a resource. Math problems will be completed in Ten Marks. Never more than 40 minutes!
*Should students CHOOSE to misuse class time, then unfinished work will come home and be expected to be completed and returned the following day. This does not include any unfinished work when students were giving their 100%!
